Troubleshooting Tactics Launch Issues on Workstations
Tactics launch issues can be related to workstation permissions, cache folder access, or server-side configuration. A working approach is to verify permissions first, then clear the Tactics Central cache on the server and restart Tactics and any port servers.
What should be checked first?Confirm that the workstation and user have the required permissions to run Tactics.
- Check folder permissions for the ITS Software folder
- Confirm permissions on the cache folder
- If needed, have IT review or adjust permissions on the computer
Delete the Cache folder from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\ITS Software\TACTICS Central
After deleting the folder:
- Restart Tactics on the central server
- Restart any port servers, if present
If Tactics still does not open after the permission and cache checks:
- Try launching Tactics from the affected workstation again
- Review the SQL Server error in the Database Configuration area of ITS Control Panel
- Set up a call to review what may be missing and whether IT needs to allow additional permissions on the computers
Tactics can take a long time to start a compare on all data over a cellular connection. In one reported case, the compare process took around 10 minutes to start before the actual compare began.
SUMMARY: For launch and compatibility-related issues, the most direct steps are to verify permissions, delete the Tactics Central cache folder, and restart Tactics and port servers. If the issue remains, review the SQL Server error and involve IT to check workstation permissions.
